HC Deb 26 February 1999 vol 326 c467W
Mr. Berry

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what amounts in his Department's budget for 1998–99 can be attributed to spending on disabled people; and what proportion this represents of total departmental spending. [71291]

Mr. Byers

During the year 1998–99 the Department allocated the sum of £31,000 for adjustments to information technology and specialist equipment for its staff with disabilities, excluding alterations to premises.

The Department does not separately record the proportion of its total expenditure which goes to the disabled people. However, the Department aims to take account of the needs of those with disabilities in the design of its programmes.

The above excludes the DTI's Executive Agencies, whose Chief Executives have delegated responsibility for disability issues in their Agency.
