Mr. Doug Henderson

This is a matter for the Chief Executive of the Defence Postal and Courier Services Agency. I have asked the Chief Executive to write to the hon. Member.

Letter from B. J. Cash to Mr. Mike Hancock, dated 26 February 1999: I am replying to your Question to the Secretary of State for Defence about how many people are currently employed by the Defence Postal and Courier Services Agency; and what was the figure at Its Inception, as this matter falls within my area of responsibility as Chief Executive of the Defence Postal and Courier Services Agency. The number of people currently employed by the Defence Postal and Courier Services Agency as at 31 January 1999 is 574, comprising of 221 military and 353 civilians. The number employed at its inception on 1 July 1992 was 541, comprising of 285 military and 256 civilians. The increase in total numbers of staff is as a result of the Agency expanding its responsibilities to include some overseas locations and the absorption of the MOD Van and Mail Services in the UK.
