To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many female chartered engineers by discipline there are in the regular element of the(a) Royal Navy, (b) Army, (c) Royal Air Force and (d) Royal Fleet Auxiliary; and what proportion they represent of the total number of chartered engineers in each service. There are 357 Chartered Engineers in the Royal Navy of whom one is female. She is a member of the Institute of British Computer Science.

There are 371 chartered Engineers recorded in the RAF of whom two are female. The specialisms of the females are civil engineering and electrical engineering.

For the Army the information is not held centrally and can be produced only at disproportionate cost.
