§ Mr. BoatengThe most recent estimate of the number of first time young offenders found guilty in magistrates' courts (both youth and adult magistrates' courts) sets the figure at around 37,000 in 1996. This figure rises to approximately 38,900 if cases heard in the Crown Court are included.
