Of the Department's advisory NDPBs the following hold public meetings:
- The Advisory Committee on Genetic Testing
- The Gene Therapy Advisory Committee
- The United Kingdom Xenotransplantation Interim Regulatory Authority.
In none of these cases is this under a statutory requirement.
Of the Department's advisory NDPBs the following have lay or consumer representatives on the boards:
- The Advisory Committee on Dangerous Pathogens
- The Advisory Committee on Distinction Awards
- The Advisory Committee on Genetic Testing
- The Advisory Committee on the Micro-biological Safety of Food
- The Committee of the Carcinogenicity of Chemicals in Food. Consumer Products and the Environment
- The Committee on Medical Aspects of Food and Nutrition Policy
- The Committee on the Safety of Medicines
- The Committee on the Toxicity of Chemicals in Food, Consumer Products and the Environment
- The Expert Advisory Group on AIDS
- The Gene Therapy Advisory Committee
- The Medicines Commission
- The Standing Committee on Postgraduate Medical Education
- The United Kingdom Advisory Panel for Health Care Workers Infected with Bloodborne Viruses

In the case of the Advisory Committee on Genetic Testing and the Gene Therapy Advisory Committee this is under a statutory requirement.
