All of the business awarded to KPMG has been competitively tendered amongst a selection of suppliers, under the Computer and Related Services Framework Agreement, which has been in place since 1 June 1996. No records are available prior to this date.

This Framework is covered by the provisions of the EC Services Directive (92/50/EEC), which came into effect on 1 July 1993. This ensures that all tender exercises are compliant with EC Procurement legislation.

This Department spends in the order of £60 million per annum under the Computer and Related Services Framework Agreement on consultancy and contractor services, under 2 per cent. of which has been spent with KPMG during the whole period of the Framework. All contracts of over £10k are listed in the table, three other minor contracts below this value have been awarded.

Benefit Integrity Project (BIP) statistics for the period ending 31 March 1999 will be placed in the Libraries of both Houses by the end of April 1999. BIP cases being actioned on 31 March 1999 will continue to be processed. Statistical information will continue to be provided as these cases pass through all stages of adjudication, including review and appeal.
