§ Mr. George HowarthIn 1998–99, estimated expenditure on specific programmes to tackle the misuse of drugs represented about 0.65 per cent. of total central expenditure in the Home Office. Following the Comprehensive Spending Review settlement this figure will rise to over 1.5 per cent. in 1999–2000 with the allocation of an additional £34 million.
