HC Deb 15 February 1999 vol 325 c580W
Mr. Chaytor

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what steps he has taken to relocate staff in(a) his Department and (b) the agencies for which he is responsible to the regions of the United Kingdom with the highest levels of unemployment; and what plans he has further to decentralise the location of his Department and its agencies. [70470]

Mr. Morley

Since May 1997 we have established the British Cattle Movement Service at Workington, Cumbria which created around 300 jobs. Altogether 70 per cent. of all permanent staff in MAFF and its Agencies work outside London in about 150 different locations. Any further office moves will be considered on their merits.
