(2) if he will list the categories of employment available to persons under 16 years old and the percentages of young people under 16 years in each category for each of the London boroughs; [70104]

(3) how many young people under 16 years of age in each of the London boroughs are in paid employment; [70107]

(4) what is the average hourly pay of young people under 16 years of age in employment in each of the London boroughs. [70105]

Mr. Hutton

Data on the employment activity of persons under 16 years of age are not collected centrally. The categories of employment available to persons under 16 are mainly contained in local authority byelaws. It is for individual authorities to decide in the light of local circumstances the categories of employment to permit, but the majority follow model byelaws issued by the Department of Health. Copies of the relevant part of that model have been placed in the Library.
