§ Mr. HuttonData on the employment activity of persons under 16 years of age are not collected centrally. The categories of employment available to persons under 16 are mainly contained in local authority byelaws. It is for individual authorities to decide in the light of local circumstances the categories of employment to permit, but the majority follow model byelaws issued by the Department of Health. Copies of the relevant part of that model have been placed in the Library.
