§ Mr. BoatengIt is not our practice to publish the names of those put forward for consideration as independent members of police authorities. The selection panels which have put those names forward have treated applications in confidence. To publish those names would make known the names of unsuccessful candidates as well322W as those who were subsequently appointed, and I am not prepared to do this without their express consent. This could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
