To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what conversion payments have been made by region in each of the last five financial years to encourage farmers to switch to organic production; and if he will make a statement about the Organic Aid Scheme. [67711]

The Organic Aid Scheme was not in operation during the financial year 1993–94. Expenditure under the scheme in subsequent financial years, by region, is as follows:
