All medication, which includes treatment for head lice, is available free of charge, on prescription to children aged 0–16 and to those aged 16–18 who are in full-time education.

Prescribed medication is available free through the extensive charge exemption and remission arrangements which include those on low incomes. Details are in leaflet Health Circular 11, "Are you entitled to help with health costs", copies of which are available in the Library.
