§ Dr. HowellsElectrical and electronic equipment is one of the sectors targeted in the Government's Producer Responsibility initiative. Through this initiative, the Department of Trade and Industry has encouraged industry-led action to increase re-use and recycling of electrical and electronic equipment. Recently, the Department issued a guide to the re-use of unwanted computer equipment.
The Government are currently developing a new waste strategy, and has made clear that they are committed to achieving substantial increases in recycling. In this context, the Government are currently assessing options for developing the markets for recycled materials and products.
