HC Deb 02 December 1999 vol 340 c301W
Dr. Iddon

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what action he will take to reduce prejudice against and misunderstanding of the clinical needs of Down's Syndrome patients within the NHS. [100194]

Mr. Hutton

We have already published good practice guidance on health services for people with learning disabilities: "Signposts for Success" (on commissioning and providing health services for people with learning disabilities) and "Once a Day" (for primary health care teams). We propose to build on these by ensuring that the clinical needs of people with Down's Syndrome are fully considered in our work to develop the new Government Learning Disability Strategy.
