§ Mr. Hain[holding answer 16 April 1999]: In addition to taking any opportunity to promote Wales to overseas markets, my right hon. Friend, the Secretary of State for Wales has hosted a reception at Lancaster House for senior Japanese industrialists and has written to potential and existing investors. He has also met the Ambassador of each country.
I led an inward investment mission to Japan last October. These efforts have been in addition to the day-to-day efforts of the Welsh Development Agency.
Following the transfer of functions, this issue will be a matter for the National Assembly.
