§ Mr. MichaelTwenty-five Welsh Office staff are currently employed as professional statisticians. The numbers by grade are:
Grade Number Senior Civil Service 1 Grade 6 2 Grade 7 14 Assistant Statistician 8 All the Assistant Statisticians were appointed through the Civil Service Selection Board (CSSB) and are regarded as being in a fast stream training grade. More senior grades are not designated as fast stream, or otherwise, but most of the statisticians in these grades joined the Statistician Group through CSSB. Two are Royal Statistical Society chartered statisticians.
