HC Deb 21 April 1999 vol 329 cc596-7W
Mr. Baker

To ask the Prime Minister what steps he is taking to achieve greater co-ordination between the Advisory Committee on Releases to the Environment and the Advisory Committee on Pesticides. [81450]

The Prime Minister

[holding answer 20 April 1999]The Advisory Committee on Releases to the Environment and the Advisory Committee on Pesticides already co-ordinate through their Secretariats and exchange information on matters of mutual interest such as the use of pesticides on genetically modified plants. The future co-ordination of these and other committees is subject to the outcome of the 'review of the framework for overseeing developments in biotechnology' announced by my right hon. Friend, the Minister for the Cabinet Office on 17 December 1998, Official Report, columns 644–45.
