To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry when he will announce his decision on Scottish Power's application to construct and operate an open cycle gas turbine generating station at Holybourne, Hampshire. [81487]

I have today decided to give a direction under Section 14(3) of the Energy Act 1976 to prevent the building of a 160 MW generating station to be fuelled by natural gas at the Holybourne Oil Terminal, Alton, Hampshire.

Copies of the Press Notice and decision letter are being placed in the Library of the House.
