To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office how many parliamentary questions have been tabled to his Department for written answer on a named day since May 1997; and what percentage of them received a substantive reply on that day. [80734]

For the purpose of this answer, questions tabled to me as the Minister for the Cabinet Office and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster and to my predecessor my right hon. Friend the Member for South Shields (Dr. Clark) have been aggregated. Details relating to my right hon. Friend the Member for Hartlepool (Mr. Mandelson) for his period as Minister without Portfolio have been recorded separately.

The figures for the number of named day parliamentary questions tabled to this Department and the percentage which received a substantive reply on the due date from 1 May 1997 to 31 March 1999 are as follows:
