To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what red route schemes are currently planned by his Department concerning the London Borough of Wandsworth. [79700]

The roads in Wandsworth designated as red routes are the A3, A24, A205, A214, A217, A306, A3205 and A3220. The current implementation timetable in Wandsworth is given in the table. The aim is to have the whole of the network operational in 2000.

The Government are aware of public concern about the need to regulate alcohol abuse in the maritime industry. We intend to issue a consultation paper in the near future seeking views on whether there should be national legislation to combat alcohol abuse on board ship, and, if so, what form such legislation might take. We intend our proposals to apply to all seafarers, including those who operate leisure craft.
