§ Mr. Mudie[holding answer 19 October 1998]: The average annual funding through HEFCE grant and tuition fees for teaching a full-time undergraduate degree student is around £4,000 in English universities and colleges, including previously PCFC funded institutions. The comparable figure for the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, which attract additional funding via the college fee, is around £5,800.
