HC Deb 19 October 1998 vol 317 c970W
Mr. Webb

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what assessment he has made of the distribution of ages at which employees first make second tier pension contributions to schemes other than the state earnings-related pension scheme. [55635]

Mr. Denham

At present the information requested could be provided only at disproportionate cost. However, the Department has commissioned the Centre for Research in Social Policy, Loughborough University, to carry out an analysis, using data from the Survey of Family and Working Lives, of how people are building up pension rights over their lifetime. This analysis is looking at the age at which people join occupational and personal pensions. This work is expected to be completed by the end of this year, and the report will be published as soon as possible thereafter.
