HC Deb 19 October 1998 vol 317 c968W
Mr. Livingstone

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what research his Department has(a) commissioned and (b) evaluated on the impact of organophosphorous compounds since 1 May 1997; which organisations are carrying out the research; and what is the timetable for its completion. [55338]

Mr. Timms

The Department of Social Security has commissioned no research on the impact of organophosphorous compounds since 1 May 1997. To ensure that policy is medically sound and based on the latest research, the Department's medical advisers regularly monitor the scientific and medical literature, and liaise with colleagues in other government departments, and in universities and research institutions. In June 1998, the report of the Official Group on Organophosphates was published by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. This report contains a list of all research funded by Government Departments into organophosphates.
