§ Mr. Battle:[holding answer 21 July 1998]: To the best of our knowledge there are no British companies exploring for oil in Southern Sudan although we understand that two companies, Weir Pumps and Allen Power, supply equipment to the major exploration consortium in Sudan headed by CNPC of China.
