HC Deb 19 October 1998 vol 317 c967W
Mr. Brake

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many motorcycle parking spaces exist at each office or site for which his Department is responsible; and how many are secure spaces. [55256]

Angela Eagle

The information is not held centrally and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost. Such information as is available suggests that there are very few parking spaces on the general estate that are specifically designated for motorcycles. Invariably, most motorcyclists make use of car parking facilities or sheds where bicycles are secured. However, at the Department's major sites at Newcastle, Washington, Lytham and Preston a total of 29 secure motorcycle parking spaces are provided and a further 80 bays, in a secure environment, can be utilised for either motorcycles or bicycles.
