§ Mr. MandelsonThe best way that Government can assist industry as a whole, including manufacturing, is by providing macroeconomic stability. This Government have put in place a credible framework for macroeconomic policy to deliver low inflation and sound public finances which are the necessary basis for high and sustainable levels of growth and employment. In addition, my Department is working in partnership with industry, including manufacturing companies, to improve the competitiveness of our firms in domestic and overseas markets.
