HC Deb 19 October 1998 vol 317 c940W
Mr. Clifton-Brown

To ask the Minister of State, Lord Chancellor's Department what use(a) his Department and (b) its agencies are currently making of the Government Purchase Card; what savings he estimates are being achieved as a result; what plans he has to expand use of the card by his Department and its agencies; and if he will make a statement. [55175]

Mr. Hoon

The Government Purchase Card (GPC) is not yet being used. The Court Service plans to introduce the GPC in one area later this financial year, and will assess the scope for further use next year. The Public Record Office will pilot the card later this month, and introduce it in June 1999 if that is favourable. The Land Registry will pilot in January 1999 and introduce it in April 1999 if the test succeeds. The Northern Ireland Court Service and the Public Trust Office are currently reviewing their procurement procedures, and will consider the introduction of the GPC.
