HC Deb 19 October 1998 vol 317 c1051W
Ann Clwyd

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if she will make a statement on the application of the Export of Goods (Control) Order 1989 to the issuing of licences by United Kingdom companies for production overseas. [55217]

Mrs. Roche

A UK company does not require a licence under the Export of Goods (Control) Order to allow production of its products in another country. If, however, in order to enable the production to go ahead the company needed to supply controlled technology from the UK, it would need a licence. The export of most specialised components of controlled goods is also controlled.
