To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many of the successful candidates for the recent recruitment of middle managers for the Diplomatic Service were(a) men, (b) women and (c) over the age of 40 years. [55001]

Of the 13 candidates successful at the Middle Managers Recruitment Board, 69 per cent. (9) were men, 31 per cent. (4) were women and 31 per cent. (4) were over the age of forty.
