HC Deb 19 November 1998 vol 319 c865W
Mr. Webb

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what estimate he has made of the amount of money currently paid to post offices for handling payments of family credit; and if he will make a statement on the implications of the loss of such payments following the introduction of the working families tax credits. The fees paid by this Department to the Post Office are commercial in confidence. However, we can assure the hon. Member that the relevant contracts are scripted to provide flexibility for both increases and decreases in volumes of business and therefore should not be a factor in the implementation of new policies.
