§ Ms Estelle MorrisWe are providing significant investment to support the implementation of both the National Literacy and Numeracy Strategies in primary schools. We have allocated almost £60 million to the literacy strategy in 1998–99, and committed a further £120 million per annum over the next three years to both strategies. This will support a comprehensive professional development and training programme for teachers designed to raise literacy and numeracy standards in schools.
