HC Deb 19 November 1998 vol 319 c749W
Mr. Bercow

To ask the Prime Minister if he will deposit in the Library a copy of the speech he delivered at Portschach; and what (i) minutes and (ii) notes were taken by(a) United Kingdom delegates and (b) the Council Secretariat. [60779]

The Prime Minister

This meeting of the Heads of Government was an informal meeting in preparation for the full European Council in Vienna, at which a broad range of issues were discussed. No formal decisions were taken.

I did not make a formal speech. As this was an informal meeting there were neither formal minutes nor conclusions. As has been the practice under previous administrations, a member of the UK delegation took an informal record of the discussion, but as is standard practice, this remains confidential. There is no formal Council Secretariat record.
