Mr. Rowlands

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what estimate he has made of the number of people taken on by health authorities and health trusts under the New Deal arrangements. [60412]

Mr. Galbraith

On 16 September I announced that Trusts and Health Boards in Scotland had given a commitment to provide 270 New Deal Welfare-to-Work places. Information on the take up of these places is not available centrally.

Mr. Rowlands

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what estimate he has made of the number of people taken on by local enterprise councils under the New Deal arrangements. [60414]

Mr. Macdonald

I understand that by 31 October 7 persons had been taken on by Scottish Enterprise, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and their networks of local enterprise under the New Deal arrangements, a further 3 are in the process of being recruited and at present 8 more are under consideration for future posts.

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many young people within his Department have been employed under the New Deal arrangements. [60371]

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what estimate he has made of the number of people taken on under the New Deal arrangements by non-departmental bodies in receipt of financial support from his Department. [60520]

Mr. Dewar

NDPBs are encouraged to participate as employers in the New Deal. Information on the numbers of people taken under the New Deal by non-departmental public bodies is not held centrally.
