§ Dr. Kumar
To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how much each member of the Monetary Policy Committee is paid for their services. [59529]

§ Ms Hewitt
The pay of the Bank's Governor, Deputy Governors and Executive Directors are set out in the Bank of England Report and Accounts 1998. The pay of external MPC members is a matter for the Bank of England.

§ Dr. Kumar
To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) if he will enlarge the Monetary Policy Committee to include more people with industrial and manufacturing experience; [59527]
(2) if he will increase the number of members of the Monetary Policy Committee representing each region of the United Kingdom. [59861]

§ Ms Hewitt
In appointing the members of the MPC, the Chancellor follows the requirement of the Bank of England Act that he besatisfied that the person has knowledge or experience which is likely to be relevant to the Committee's functions".
