Mr. Skinner

To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport how many Lottery grants were awarded to the East Midlands Region in(a) the last 12 months and (b) 1996; and of these how many in each period were for projects relating to (i) sports facilities, (ii) the theatre, (iii) music, (iv) dance and (v) the preservation of sites of historical interest. To date the National Lottery has made 31,782 awards worth £5.53 billion across the UK. In the East Midlands there have been 1,700 awards worth £215.37m.

In the last 12 months to 31 October 1998 the East Midlands has received 246 awards worth £41.62m. In 1996, 297 awards were made in the East Midlands to the value of £29.31m. The table sets out the awards to sports facilities, the theatre, music, dance and preservation of historical interest during these two periods. These are based on information provided by distributors.
