HC Deb 19 November 1998 vol 319 cc830-1W
Dr. Cable

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions if he will publish his Department's evaluation of the various bids for shortlisting for the prospective headquarters for London Government. [60782]

Mr. Raynsford

No. The information provided by the seven short-listed developers on which the evaluation was based was supplied on a commercially confidential basis.

Dr. Cable

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what independent advice he sought on(a) value for money, (b) architectural merit and (c) social impact on neighbouring boroughs before making his decision on the shortlisting of prospective headquarters for London Government. [60781]

Mr. Raynsford

Turner & Townsend Project Management, Knight Frank and the Property Advisers to the Civil Estate (PACE) are advising on property related matters, including value for money and the availability of local amenities. A small design advisory group is advising me on the architectural merit of each proposal and the London Boroughs of Camden and Southwark are working closely with the teams responsible for the two short-listed proposals.
