§ Mr. Gerald HowarthTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department which of the following organisations are known to operate in the United Kingdom:(a) Al-Ansar al-Shariah, (b) Al-Gamaa al Islaamiya, (c) Algerian Groupe Islamique Armee, (d) Al-Marsad al-l'lami al islami, (e) Al-Muhajir, (f) Al-Muhajiroun, (g) Committee for the Defence of Legitimate Rights in Saudi Arabia, (h) Filisteen al-Muslima, (i) Front Islamique de Salvation, (j) Hamas, (k) Hizbollah, (l) Hizb-ut-Tahrir, (m) Islamic Jihad, (n) Nassiha wal-Isla, (o) Bahraini Freedom Movement, (p) Bahrain Liberation Front and (q) Islamic Observation Centre; and if (i) Ministers and (ii) officials have met representatives of the organisations. § Mr. StrawI understand that, of the organisations listed, none has official offices in the United Kingdom. However, Al-Muhajiroun, the Committee for the Defence of Legitimate Rights in Saudi Arabia, Hizb-ut-Tahrir, the Bahraini Freedom Movement and the Bahrain Liberation Front operate publicly in the United Kingdom.
It may be that there have been contacts with individual members, but neither Home Office Ministers nor officials have had formal meetings with any of these organisations.
