HC Deb 19 November 1998 vol 319 c804W
Mr. Win Griffiths

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make a statement about Welsh involvement in the HELIOS programme of the European Union since its inception. [60617]

Mr. Jon Owen Jones

HELIOS II was established by a decision of the European Council in February 1993. The key aims of the programme were to promote the integration of, and equal opportunities for disabled people.

Four organisations from Wales were selected to take part in the HELIOS II programme. The Welsh Office was a member of the HELIOS II Co-ordinating Committee. The programme finished in 1996 and no successor programme has been established.
