To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport (1) which Football League clubs have applied for lottery money from the Sports Council of England for youth development schemes; [59939]

(2) how many applications have been received by the Sports Council of England from Football League clubs for funding for youth development schemes; [59938]

(3) which Football League clubs have unsuccessfully applied for lottery money from the Sports Council of England to fund youth development schemes; [59942]

(4) which Football League clubs have successfully applied for lottery money from the Sports Council of England to fund youth development schemes; [59941]

(5) which Football League clubs have received lottery money from the Sports Council of England to fund youth development schemes. [59940]

Mr. Banks

[holding answer 16 November 1998]: Sixty-nine Football League clubs are eligible for Lottery money under the Youth Football Development Programme, which is jointly funded by the FA Premier League and the Lottery Sports Fund. So far thirty one clubs have been awarded Lottery funding from the English Sports Council; fourteen clubs' applications are under assessment by the ESC; and three applications have been returned with a request for further information. No clubs have been turned down for funding under this scheme. The table sets out the awards that have been made to date.
