HC Deb 18 November 1998 vol 319 cc619-20W
Mr. Maginnis

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if she will identify those permanent security structures which are currently under consideration for demolition. [60241]

Mr. Ingram

The Government are committed to returning Northern Ireland to normal policing and security arrangements as soon as it is safe to do so. This is clearly set out in the Good Friday Agreement. However we can only move as fast as the security situation allows. The Chief Constable keeps the situation under constant review. Security structures will only be removed where this is consistent with the level of threat.
