§ Mr. HoonI regard the Year 2000 problem as an issue of the utmost seriousness and I take a close interest in the Department's programme. I welcome any independent assessment of progress. Although the Taskforce 2000 report contains some inaccuracies in its summary of the Department's current position, I am pleased to note its recognition of the overall competence with which the complex project is being managed.
585WThe Department has recently submitted its latest quarterly return to the Central IT Unit and the results of that review will be announced shortly to the House and copies of the return will be placed in the Library and published on the Internet.
