§ Mr. MealeInformation concerning the commercial release of genetically modified crops in 1999 and 2000 will not be held on a public register. However, we anticipate that all commercial planting in 1999–2000 will be in the form of the farm-scale releases announced in the statement by my right hon. Friend the Minister for the Environment to the House of Lords Select Committee on 21 October. Details of these releases will be published.

§ Mr. MealeFor the farm-scale releases which are conducted under part C approval (marketing consent) of Directive 90/220/EEC, the crops may be used in accordance with the scope set out in the original marketing notification. For those conducted under part B approval (research purposes) the release consent will specify the method of disposal.
