HC Deb 18 November 1998 vol 319 c675W
Mr. Dismore

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what plans the Government have to review the operation of the London Regional Transport Act 1984 so as to equalise the age at which bus passes are made available to male and female pensioners; and if he will make a statement. [60416]

Ms Glenda Jackson

None. Provision was made in the Pension Act 1995 for the age at which women became eligible for concessionary travel schemes to be raised from 60 to 65 years over a transitional period from 2010 to 2020. This maintains the link between concessionary travel and pensions, and eliminates the discrimination against men. The Government have no plans to change these dates.
