§ Mr. FatchettThe question of Burma's human rights record over the last six months was discussed at the General Affairs Council on 26 October, which agreed a strengthening of the EU Common Position. My right hon. Friend the Foreign Secretary also raised Burma when he discussed human rights issues with the new German Foreign Minister Joseph Fischer on 29 October.
The UK co-sponsored the UN General Assembly resolution tabled on Burma last week. I also recently convened a meeting in Kent for senior policy-makers of several countries to build international consensus on Burma.
