HC Deb 16 November 1998 vol 319 c409W
Mr. Hancock

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment (1) what assessment he has made of the contribution of the Youth Service to lifelong learning; [59335]

(2) what factors underlay his decision on the priority given to the Youth Service in his Department's consultative document "The Learning Age". [59337]

Mr. Mudie

The Youth Service has an important part to play in helping to deliver Government policies on lifelong learning. This was acknowledged in the Green Paper "The Learning Age". To build on this, we plan to put forward more detailed proposals on the future of the Youth Service in the context of the full range of services for young people. This will extend the discussion by linking the Youth Service to developments across the range of learning provision for young people.
