HC Deb 12 November 1998 vol 319 c301W
Mr. Whittingdale

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what estimate he has made of the total cost to pension funds of the recoup of tax credits by the Inland Revenue paid in relation to share buybacks between September 1994 and October 1996. [59272]

Dawn Primarolo

[holding answer 10 November 1998]: The Inland Revenue is making inquiries into a number of persons, including pension funds, to see whether they received an abnormal dividend in circumstances such that the tax credit paid is recoverable by the Revenue. There is no estimate of how much tax will be recovered from pension funds following these inquiries.
