Mr. Jon Owen JonesOnly the normal compensation discharge rate of 68 megalitres per day, together with a maximum 32 megalitres per day discharge for power generation, was released from the Elan Dams into the River Elan at the times specified. These releases were authorised by the Birmingham Corporation Water Act 1892 as amended by subsequent abstraction licences. Significantly larger quantities of water were spilling over the dams. I will write to the hon. Member as soon as possible with data on the combined quantities and will place a copy of my letter in the Library of the House.

Mr. Jon Owen JonesOnly the normal compensation discharge rate of just under 7 megalitres per day was released from the Crai Reservoir into the River Crai at the time specified. This is the statutory compensation flow rate authorised under the abstraction license. Significantly quantities of water were spilling over the reservoir dam. I will write to the hon. Member as soon as possible with data on the combined quantities and will place a copy of my letter in the Library of the House.
