HC Deb 12 November 1998 vol 319 c312W
19. Mr. Wilkinson

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what assessment he has made of the impact of the common agricultural policy on hill farmers in the United Kingdom. [58061]

Mr. Morley

The Common Agricultural Policy has provided hill farmers with a great deal of financial support. However, the Government would like hill farmers to have a more secure and sustainable future than has been achievable under the present CAP framework. This is being considered in the context of the Agenda 2000 reform proposals.
