§ Mr. BoswellTo ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what proposals he has to monitor and publish performance on emissions from power generators on a basis of less than 12 months intervals. [59164]
§ Mr. Battle[holding answer 10 November 1998]: Annual figures for emissions of greenhouse gases and other pollutants, including those from power generation, are published by the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions. Figures relating to 1996 were published in a DETR News Release in July this year. At the same time, the Department of Trade and Industry published provisional estimates of carbon dioxide emissions for 1997 based on energy consumption data. It is proposed that these provisional estimates will continue to be published on an annual basis.
Information on fuel use in power generation is published by the DTI on a regular basis in the monthly statistical bulletin Energy Trends. Data for fuels used in electricity generation by major power producers are published on a monthly basis and data for all generators are published on a quarterly basis.
