§ Mr. IngramThere is no formal arrangement in Great Britain for the audio recording of police interviews with terrorist suspects. The recently published Draft Code of Practice under Section 53A of the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1996 has been largely modelled on the equivalent Code of Practice made under the Police and Criminal Evidence legislation, with some differences. Following consideration of comments made during the current consultation exercise my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State may modify the Draft Code, and will then lay it in Parliament for approval by both Houses.
